Evaluation of addictive behavior in depressive disorders

Introduction The comorbidity between depressive disorders and addiction is far from being random. Through substances, users try to ameliorate their feelings of sadness, reduce present anxiety. phenomena tolerance dependence quickly worsen the situation, make any attempt at withdrawal more difficult. Objectives objective this study analyze addictive behavior in patients diagnosed with disorder. Methods This a retrospective descriptive carried out by analyzing hospitalization records addictology department psychiatric university hospital Ar-Razi Salé over period one year (from August 2020 2021). diagnoses are established according DSM 5 diagnostic criteria. Results Of 141 patient initially entered, nine were not usable 54 had diagnosis disorder constituting 40.9% admissions service. average age was 37.9 years (16; 69). Among our depressed substance-using patients, most frequent personality (29.6%) followed anxiety (11.1% cases). Thirty-five percent reported least suicide past 11.1% experienced sexual abuse. onset sample 17.8 (11; 31). used substance tobacco (n=44) alcohol (n=43), cannabis then benzodiazepines. Conclusions relationship depression use remains complex. Although often turn drugs search state well-being, these substances can also aggravate or cause depression. Disclosure Interest None Declared
